Beef and Dairy Showtimes

Beef – Friday, 9am
Dairy – Saturday, 9am • Showmanship, Heifers, Cows

Showmanship will begin with super seniors, over-the-hill will go in after pee-wee. This is for both beef and dairy

SPECIAL NOTICE TO OUR CATTLE EXHIBITORS:
1ST—THE BARN WILL BE BEDDED WITH MINIMAL BASE SAWDUST (ONLY AN INCH OR TWO) AND THEN EXHIBITORS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY THEIR OWN BEDDING OF CHOICE FOR THEIR ANIMALS.

Cattle Show Regulations:


  1. All animals must be on the grounds by 4pm Thursday, in the assigned exhibit space and will remain on the grounds until 5pm Sunday. If you want to bring animals in on Wednesday night you must inform the superintendent so that animals can be checked in.
  2. All State of Connecticut Department of Agriculture Connecticut fair and show regulations and requirements will be followed regarding all health testing and vaccinations. Health charts must include animals’ EID, tattoo or metal tag #s and will be checked before animals are unloaded.
  3. Any animal with horns cannot be entered in Beef or Dairy Show.
  4. Any animal which presents a threat to the safety of people or other animals must be removed at the request of the Superintendents.
  5. All animals must be in good physical conditions. Any animal showing evidence of warts, ringworm, hoof rot, lice, etc. will be refused entry.
  6. Calves under 3 months old must be separated from the public as stated in the “Emergency Order Concerning the Vaccinations or Alternative Confinement of Certain Animals”. No bulls on the grounds unless nursing the cow and born in the current year.
  7. The Superintendents will designate the space for all entries.
  8. There are no entry fees.
  9. Exhibitors may enter two entries in each class except those classes stated.
  10. Exhibitors must furnish feed and hay. Initial bedding supplied.
  11. An entry form must be completed in order to receive premiums.
  12. Passes will be issued based on number of exhibitors. Additional passes may be purchased from the pass office. There will be NO extra passes once the fair begins.
  13. Anyone 21 years of age or under as of January 1 are required to show in Showmanship and Fitting classes to be eligible for youth premiums. Youth are eligible but must be pre-entered in both youth and open show.
  14. Registration Papers will be checked and must be available. Animal must be registered in exhibitor’s name or have proper 4-H lease papers sent with your entries. A copy of your current HEALTH PAPERS should also be sent with your entries.
  15. If vehicles or cattle trailers are parked on the grounds over the weekend, they need to use the designated area. CAMPERS MUST PRE-REGISTER with the appropriate forms and fees.
  16. Maximum number of cattle per farm/family is 10.
  17. Tack space will be provided.
  18. Nothing in the aisle.
